Chapter Six

After spending two more days with Israel, Angel knew it was time to get back to reality. Israel had texted, but he hadn’t been to the café. He also wasn’t coming to follow her home like he’d done a million times before. Even though they were communicating, Angel thought all Israel wanted was sex.

Since Nate, sex hasn’t been on Angel’s mind, but Israel Richards has changed all that. The night he dropped her off at her house, she couldn’t sleep well because of visions of the sex they had. Massaging a man as sexy as Israel will make any woman crave him. She randomly would hear flashbacks of him moaning her name throughout the day.

The days were dragging, even though it was only two days ago, it felt like a month ago to Angel. She missed him but would not let him know that when she saw him again. This morning, she told herself, if he didn’t come in today, then they would just be friends. It was the only thing she could think of to keep herself from being hurt by a man again.

“Hey cousin, this place is smaller than I thought it would be. It sure is clean in here though,” Tasha said as she walked into the café.

She was so loud that everyone looked at her as she spoke. Angel shook her head, because after all these years and all the struggles that Angel has been through, Tasha was still giving her jealous vibes.

“Hey cousin. What are you doing on this side of town?”

Not that Angel cared, but she had to play nice since they were in the middle of her café. The customers were middle-aged or senior citizens. She didn’t need any unpleasant experiences for her customers to cause her café to stop growing like it had been since it had opened. Angel was sure they wouldn’t pick up on the tension that was in the air.

“Good afternoon, we have a delivery for My Angel,” an edible arrangements delivery guy said.

Angel looked up to see him with another guy standing behind him with an identical large fruit arrangement. They were the biggest that she’d ever seen.

“I’m Angel,” she said with a smile.

“I didn’t know you changed your name to My Angel. I thought it was just Angel,” Tasha said before rolling her eyes and kissing her teeth.

“You can put them down over here.”

“Ma’am, we have two more in the van.”

The café was lit up with Oh’s and ah’s as the delivery men carried in two more fruit bouquets, identical to the first two. Angel looked at each one for a card, but there wasn’t one anywhere she looked. The driver walked to her, giving her a piece of paper. Tasha hurried to Angel’s side to look over her shoulder to see who the sender was. She couldn’t see anything, which only pissed her off more.

“Thank you both,” she told the men.

Angel read the card, then slipped it into her apron pocket for safekeeping. Just when
